Watson to Represent VSU at Bill Walsh Fellowship

ETTRICK, VA- After missing a year due to COVID - 19 concerns, Offensive Line Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Trumaine Watson is attacking this off-season full throttle as he prepares for his second NFL affiliated coaching clinic this summer at the 2021 Bill Walsh NFL Diversity Coaching Fellowship.

Coach Watson will have an opportunity to assist in OTAs (organized team activities), mini-camp and training camp this summer with the Vikings.

"God!!!! You are constantly pouring opportunities in my life to be successful and I couldn't say thank you enough. I have accepted a coaching position with the Minnesota Vikings through the NFL Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship. I am extremely excited about the opportunity," said Watson via Twitter.

With no time to waste, Watson will return to the Land of Troy with an abundance of knowledge in x's and o's and overall leadership just in time for the first day of practice for the 2021 season. The Trojans will open the season at home against top-ranked Lenoir - Rhyne University on September 4 at 6pm.

Bill Walsh NFL Diversity Coaching Fellowship
Established in 1987, the Bill Walsh NFL Diversity Coaching Fellowship program provides NFL coaching experience to a diverse group of coaches every year. The program, which was named after the man who conceived the idea -- late Pro Football Hall of Fame head coach Bill Walsh -- exposes talented minority college coaches, high school coaches, and former players to the methods and philosophies of NFL coaching staffs. Walsh introduced the concept to the league in 1987 when he brought a group of minority coaches into his San Francisco 49ers' training camp.

The program has tutored more than 2,000 minority coaches through the years and has grown to the point that now every NFL team participates.
