Box Score ETTRICK, VA (November 8, 2021) - The VSU Trojan Volleyball team ended their regular 2021 season with a 3-1 victory over the Bowie State University Bulldogs. The senior night contest feature graduating academic seniors
Ambria McBride,
Bethany Henry,
Kayla Taylor and
Jodorrian Taylor. It was a hard fought matchup, but the Trojans came out on victorious.
Set 1
Despite BSU securing the first point of the set,
Helena Eubanks hit a powerful kill to put the Trojans on the board. VSU held a brief lead, until the BSU jumped ahead. Not satisfied with the outcome, the Trojans worked to finding space in the Bulldogs errors alongside a kill by
Kayla Taylor moving the Trojans up, 12-10. Â The back and forth lead change got the crowd on their feet early. A high powered kill by
Jodorrian Taylor tied the set 14-14. VSU attempted to control the floor, but were unable to finish, falling short with a score of 25-21.
Set 2
The Trojans had a slow start to the set, but BSU errors helped tie the set 3-3. Battling for control of the set, VSU took a 9-7 lead. Just when it seemed like hope was lost,
Jodorrian Taylor secured back to back points to tie the set and take a 13-12 lead. VSU found their rhythm, taking a 19-14 lead at a BSU charged timeout. Soon after, there was no stopping the Trojans as they dominated the court to take the set, 25-15.

Set 3
Taking an early 4-1 lead, the Trojans kept the same energy from the previous set. VSU continued to fight for control, but the Bulldogs quickly closed the scoring gap.
Ambria McBride jumped in to keep the Trojans in the game with a kill, tying the set 11-11. The constant tied score and lead change kept both teams on their toes, as the set progressed. A kill by
Jodorrian Taylor put VSU up, 22-21, and got the fans on their feet. Soon after, an ace by
Ambria McBride moved VSU ahead 24-22 at a BSU charged timeout. A Bulldogs sideout ended the set in favor of the Trojans, 25-23.

Set 4
An early Trojans lead was an effort of
Jodorrian Taylor with a kill and an error on BSU put the Trojans up 2-0. The set quickly turned into a battle with the score tied 4-4. Siding in favor of VSU, the Trojans led 8-5. Â An assist block by
Kayla Taylor and
Zaria Irons moved the Trojans up 10-8. It was anyone's game as the lead continued to change. VSU found their groove, taking an 18-15 lead at a BSU charged timeout. Although the Bulldogs attempted to bounce back, VSU found room off of a BSU error to secure a final set score of 25-23.

Leaders
Jodorrian Taylor had quite the senior day ending the match with a match-high 14 kills followed by
Helena Eubanks with 12 and six powerful kills from
Ambria McBride.
Zaria Irons led the match with three aces on the evening.
Bethany Henry and
Jodorrian Taylor finished with two blocks at the net in the matchup.
Makenzy Johnson (21) and
Emma Quarles (16) combined for 37 assists.
Kennedy Hoge came away with 14 digs while Mcbride finished with 13.

The Trojans return to action here at the VSU Multipurpose Center for post season play on Tuesday, November 16 at 6pm for the 2021 CIAA Volleyball Championship Quarterfinals.
