Coach Watson Set to Attend Virtual NFL and Black College Football Coaching Summit

ETTRICK, VA (June 10, 2020)- In preparation for the return of collegiate sports, Virginia State University's Offensive Line Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Trumaine Watson has been invited to attend the virtual NFL and Black College Football Hall of Fame Host Third Annual Quarterback Coaching Summit on June 22-23. NFL and NCAA assistant coaches will take part in the two-day program to experience professional development and networking opportunities with NFL club executives.

"It is a huge thing to be a part of this group, especially since HBCU coaches were only selected," said Watson.

New this year, past NFL Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship participants were also invited to attend, continuing pipeline candidate's relationship with the league. Watson was a 2019 NFL Bill Walsh Diversity Coaching Fellowship participant where he was able to develop a mindset to see different offensive schemes to overall help advance the Trojan Football program. The addition of Watson and the past fellowship participants is an additional way the NFL provides development opportunities for minority coaches on the offensive side of the ball.

Coach Watson has been a vital part of the VSU Trojan Program since his arrival in 2018. His gained knowledge of the game will help continue to help advance the Trojans offensive in the coming seasons.
