ETTRICK, VA (September 5, 2019)- After being predicted to finish first in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), the Virginia State University (VSU) volleyball team, under the leadership of third year head coach Amanda Walker will open their 2019 season at home. On September 6-7 the Trojans will host their annual VSU Trojans Home Opener Tournament at the VSU Multipurpose Center.

The tournament will also feature the Trojans annual Back to School Drive on September 7 from 11am-3pm. VSU's Student-Athletic Advisory Committee (SAAC) will be passing out school supplies to the local youth of the community on the upper landing of the VSU Multipurpose Center.

The teams participating in the 2-day tournament will be:

• Alderson Broaddus
• Davis and Elkins
• Georgian Court
• Shepherd
• Virginia State (Host)

Last season the Trojans made program history with a CIAA Championship game appearance in addition to a Northern Division Title and a 22-13 overall record. Coach Walker has added depth to her roster with the addition of new talent alongside returning several players to include 2019 CIAA Preseason picks Jalen Ivey, Kennedi Cannon and Bria Anderson.
