ETTRICK, VA (September 24, 2019)- The VSU Trojan Volleyball team are preparing to play their first conference game of the season as they host the Bulldogs of Bowie State University on September 26. The first serve is set for 6pm at the VSU Multipurpose Center.

Virginia State currently leads the all-time series record at 36-16. Head coach Amanda Walker has never lost against the Bulldogs (4-0) and hopes to keep that streak alive.

Currently, the Trojans are 3-6 on the season after taking down Chowan in a 3-set sweep on Sept. 17. Bowie State currently hold a record of 1-5, before facing Frostburg State on Sept. 24 and the Trojans on Sept. 26.

VSU have battled against some tough competition to start the season which has prepared them for conference play. The Trojans are loaded with talent, led by Bowie, MD native Jailyn Ivey. Ivey, a junior, currently leads Virginia State in kills (79) and second in digs (72). Junior Bria Anderson leads the team in assists (150) and Deja Lester, a grad transfer from Morgan State, leads the Trojans in blocks (20).

The Bulldogs are led by 6'1" senior, Alana Matson who leads the team in kills (23), aces (5) and blocks (13). Bowie State also gets production from junior, Bianca Tucker who currently leads the Bulldogs in assists (76).
