ETTRICK, VA (September 16, 2019)- After competing in a weekend tournament on the road, the VSU Volleyball team will return to the Land of Troy to host the Hawks of Chowan University on Tuesday, September 17. The first serve is set for 6pm at the VSU Multipurpose Center.
The Trojans enter the contest with a 2-6 overall record, while the Hawks are 1-2 on the season.
Under the leadership of head coach Amanda Walker, VSU has faced CU on 4 different occasions, resulting in a 3-1 series record in the Walker Era.
VSU is currently led offensively by Jailyn Ivey who has tallies 127 attacks for 69 kills and 71 points. Ivey and Kennedi Cannon are equally matched on the court with 6 serve aces each. Chowan is led by Sydney Hiner with 72 attacks for 24 kills and 24 points.
Defensively, the Trojans are also led by Jaliyn Ivey with 66 digs. Rookie Alexis Baker is not too far behind with 65 total digs for the Trojans. For the Hawks, Katie Houston leads the team defensively with 42 total digs.
