BOWIE, MD- The Virginia State University women's tennis team defeated the Vikings of Elizabeth City State University, 4-0, on day 1 of the 2019 CIAA Championship.

In the doubles, Sydney Yao and Kaela Mack teamed up to take a 6-1 doubles win. Deja Lovitt and Zimaris Smith followed suit in their doubles match up with a 6-1 victory.

The Trojans No. 2-4 singles of Kaela Mack, Christina Washington and Felicia Tucker controlled the court with a 6-0 and 6-1 victory over ECSU.

The win advances to the Trojans to day 2 to the CIAA Championship to face the winner of the Johnson C. Smith University verses Virginia Union University.
