Box Score Richmond, Va. (February 9, 2019) - The Virginia State University women's basketball team (9-13, 3-10) suffered a tough 67-42 loss to the Lady Panthers of Virginia Union University today at Barco-Steven Hall.
Virginia State University opened the contest outscoring the Lady Panthers 23-16 after one quarter. Both team continued to added points in the second quarter as Virginia Union took a 36-28 advantage at the half. The Lady Panthers secured a 54-39 advantage after three periods. The Lady Panthers continued to dominate the board rolling to a 67-42 victory over Virginia State. The Trojans was led by senior forward
Chrisanna Green securing 16 points, six rebounds, one assist and two blocks.
Green scored 16 points in 38 minutes of play. The Jamestown, New York native was five-for-12 from the floor and six-for-10 from the free throw line.
Yazmen Hannah finished the contest with eight points and five rebounds. Senior
Tajah Clark and
Ebony Reynolds both added five points each respectively.
Shareka McNeill led the Lady Panthers in double figures with contributing 22 total points.
How It Happened

Chrisanna Green secured the opening basket to start the third quarter to bring the score 40-30. The Lady Panthers then took a 45-33 lead on a three-pointer by Bria McKinney with 4:17 left in the quarter.
Yazmen Hannah added a basket to cut VUU's lead making the score 51-39 with 00:16 seconds left in the quarter. Virginia Union ended the quarter with a 54-39 advantage.
The Lady Panthers brought the same momentum in the 4
thQuarter advancing its lead by 18 points (60-42) with 5:07 left in the contest. Virginia Union then made the score 67-42 with 1:47 left in the game. The Lady Panthers when cruised to a 67-42 victory.
