ETTRICK, Va. (February 2, 2019)– The Virginia State University women's basketball team (2-11, 2-9) suffered a tough 51-49 loss to the Lady Lions of Lincoln University today at the VSU Multipurpose Center.
Lincoln University opened the contest outscoring the Trojans 17-13 after one quarter. Both team continued to added points with each securing nine points each in the second, as Lincoln took a 26-22 advantage at the half. The Lions secured a 39-35 advantage after three periods and rolled to a 51-49 victory over Virginia State. The Trojans was led by senior forward
Chrisanna Green securing a double-double performance recording 16 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and three steals.
Green scored 16 points in 38 minutes of play. The Jamestown, New York native was four-for-nine from the floor and eight-for-10 from the free throw line.
Autumn Hopson and
Yazmen Hannah both recorded nine points each respectively.
DeAshia Young led the Lady Lions double figures with contributing 17 total points.
How It Happened

Yazmen Hannah secured the opening basket to start the third quarter to bring the score 26-24.
Aja Robertson added a basket to cut the Lions lead making the score 39-33 with 00:25 seconds left in the quarter. Lincoln ended the quarter with a 39-35 advantage.
Lincoln continued to put up points over the remaining minutes to close out the game giving them a 51-49 victory.
Autumn Hopson collected a basket with 2:19 left in the contest to close out the scoring for the Trojans.

> Virginia State was 15-of-51 (31.4 percent) shooting and 11-of-17 (64.7 percent) from the charity stripe
> Lincoln University shot 39.1 percent (18-of-46) from the floor and 50 percent (10-of-20) from the free-throw line
> Virginia State finished with 11 points off Lincoln turnovers and 19 second-chance points
> LU tallied 18 points off VSU turnovers and three second-chance points
