RALEIGH, NC (December 16, 2019)- The VSU Trojans women's basketball team took down the Falcon on St. Augustine's University (SAU) in a, 64-50, road matchup. The win moves the VSU to an 8-5 overall record.

FIRST HALF
Although the Trojans opened the game with two shots in the paint to give them an early start to their lead, the Falcons kept the scoring gap close. VSU maintained their lead as SAU lagged behind with 14 missed shots in the quarter. The Trojans rounded out the opening minutes with a 15-14 lead over the Falcons.
The second quarter saw a brief shift in the score as SAU landed a jumper to take the lead. The Trojans did not stay down for long, tying the game 24-all to eventually regain the lead with a free throw and layup by Shalyn Washington.
VSU entered the locker room with a halftime score of 27-25 over the hosting SAU Falcons.

SECOND HALF
Extending their lead into double-figures, VSU worked to seal their victory in the final two quarters. Numerous fouls on SAU in the third quarter resulted in VSU making repeated appearances at the line to increase their lead. A final second fast break layup by Raelyn Muldrow, gave the Trojans a 47-38 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Driving to the basket for majority of their shots, the Trojans maintained their extended lead in the final quarter. Taking advantage of turnovers and missed shots by SAU, the Trojans held off the home team to secure their 64-50 win.
