Women’s Basketball Falls To JCSU, 70-52, for the Final Game of 2019

ETTRICK, VA (December 21, 2019) - The VSU Trojan women's basketball team fell to the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University in a non-conference matchup, 70-52, to round out games played in 2019.
The Trojans are currently 8-6 on the season, while the Golden Bulls now hold a 5-6 overall record.

First Half
The opening minutes of the game saw missed shots and turnovers from both teams as they worked to take the lead. Despite the Trojans securing a few baskets to get on boards, JCSU jumped ahead to take a 20-12 first quarter lead.
Mimicking the opening quarter, the Trojans attempted to get in the game, but missed shots and lack of rebounds plagued the Trojans advances. The halftime score ruled in favor of the hosting Golden Bulls, with a score of 42-29.

Second Half
Although the attempt was noted, VSU was not able to gain control of the game in the final two quarter. After trailing 61-38 in the third quarter, the game ruled in favor of the visiting team with a score of 70-52.
Despite the loss, the Trojans led the game in bench points (30-20).
