LINCOLN, PA (November 5, 2019) - The Virginia State University Volleyball team limited the Lions of Lincoln University's scoring to take a 3-0 sweep.

The victory moved the Trojans to a 14-10 overall record, 11-13 in the conference, while the Lions fell to a 1-20 overall record, 1-13 in the conference.

Although the Trojans secured the first 5 points in set 1, the Lions worked to close the scoring gap with the assistance of several VSU errors. With the score at a close 7-6, the Trojans gained momentum, finding flaws in the Lions game to take a large lead. After gaining majority of their points off of LUPA errors, VSU took a 25-12 set 1 victory.

Sets 2 and 3 breezed by as the Trojans held the Lions under 10 points. Numerous errors on LUPA moved VSU ahead to quickly take the respective 25-6 and 25-9 set wins for the overall game victory.

Jailyn Ivey controlled the court with 10 kills, while Emma Quarles stepped in with 13 assists. Bria Anderson was not too far behind with 11 assists

VSU led in all of the game comparison categories to include points (45-11), kills (29-8), aces (14-3), blocks (2-0), assists (28-7) and digs (22-15).

The Trojans will travel to Murfreesboro, NC to take in the Hawks of Chowan University in a non-conference matchup on November 12. The first serve is set for 6pm.

As the season quickly comes to an end, the Trojans have their sights set on the 2019 CIAA Championships in Salem, VA on November 22 and 24.
