ETTRICK, VA (November 25, 2019)- The VSU Trojans women's basketball team ousted the Royals of Regent University for 74-34 non-conference matchup.
The victory moves VSU to a 2-3 overall record, while Regent falls to a 0-4 overall record.
First Half
VSU did not have any issues taking an early led to open the contest as Regent had several missed shots and turnovers. Autumn Hopson dominated the court for the Trojans in the first quarter, secured three shots from behind the arc to elevate VSU's lead. At the end of the quarter, the Trojans held a 17-8 lead over the Royals.
Working as a team, the Trojans continued to add to their lead in the second quarter. Securing their largest lead of the half, VSU ended the quarter with a 36-13 halftime score.
Second Half
The final two quarter mimicked the previous half as the Trojans undoubtedly dominated the court. Despite Regents attempt to bounce back in the final half of the game, VSU kept a safe distance in the scoring gap.
After a third quarter score of 60-24, the Trojans stayed consistent to take the win with a final score of 74-34.
Leaders
Shalyn Washington led the way for the Trojans with 13 points. Jordan Miller and Autumn Hopson were not too far behind earning 12 points each. Natalia Leaks controls the court for the Trojans for the second consecutive contest. Controlling the Trojans recoveries was Raelyn Muldrow with 9 rebounds.
The game victory also included categories leads in points off of turnovers (26-3), second chance points (8-6), bench points (44-6) fast break points (14-0), and points in the paint (26-8).

The VSU women's basketball team will be back in action at the Multipurpose Center this Friday and Saturday as they host the 2019 VSU Thanksgiving Classic. The Classic will feature Shaw University, Virginia University of Lynchburg, Augusta University and your VSU Trojans. Tip-off on Friday November 29 is set for 4pm and 6pm. While the games on Saturday are set for 1pm and 3pm.
