ETTRICK, VA (October 2, 2019)- The VSU Trojan volleyball team is preparing for an action packed weekend as they host the CIAA Roundup on October 5-6 at the VSU Multipurpose Center.

A mix of CIAA northern and southern teams will take to the courts in hopes of improving their overall conference record. The teams participating in the roundup along the hosting VSU Trojans are Lincoln University (PA) (LUPA) and Virginia Union University (VUU) from the north; while Johnson C. Smith University (JCSU), Shaw University (SU) and St. Augustine's University (SAU) represent the south.

The Trojans will face the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith to open the roundup on Oct. 5. The first serve is set for 5pm. VSU will then take on the Falcons of St. Augustine's on Oct. 6 at 10am and the Shaw Bears at 2pm. All of the Trojans contests will be played on the main court of the VSU Multipurpose Center.

To date, JCSU has a 2-3 overall record, 1-1 in the conference while SAU is 0-3 overall and in the conference. Currently Shaw holds a 2-7 overall record, 2-0 in the CIAA prior to facing Claflin University on Oct. 2.

Based on CIAA standings, VSU leads the northern division with a .455 winning percentage and a 4 game winning streak. Of the southern teams competing in the roundup, Shaw is the top team with a .222 winning percentage and a 2 game winning streak.

Each team has their designated leaders who they will depend on to give their team a victory.
