ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (January 26,2019) – The Virginia State University women's basketball team suffered a 72-59 loss to the Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State University this afternoon at the R. L. Vaughan Center.
Virginia State (8-10, 2-7 CIAA, 0-3 North) opened the contest being outscored by Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) 21-8 after one quarter and the Trojans outscored the Lady Vikings in the second, 17-16, as the host ECSU took a 37-25 lead into the half. Elizabeth City State extended the margin to 45-55 after three periods and rolled to a 72-59 victory.
Green finished the contest with another double double performance of the season with securing 15 points and 11 rebounds in 38 minutes of play. The Jamestown, New York native was 5-of-13 from the line and finished with three assists and three steals.
Autumn Hopson recorded 12 points, three rebounds, one assist and one steal.
Naterria Luster and Asia Deal led the Lady Vikings in double figures with both contributing 38 total points. Luster led the way for ECSU when she dished out a double double performance with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Deal tallied 19 points, while Jalyn Brown contributed 15 and Devona Stell registered eight points.

Shayln Washington started the scoring with a layup in the third quarter to try and cut the ECSU's lead, but the Lady Vikings continued to add points taking the advantage to close out the third quarter. ECSU continued to put points on the board cruise to a 72-59 victory.
