SALISBURY, N.C. -- No. 6 Virginia State University men's basketball team cruised to an 87-63 win at Livingstone College Saturday night at New Trent Gym. The Trojans (12-3, 4-0 CIAA) extended their winning streak to eight games with the victory.

Cyonte Melvin led the way for the Trojans with 16 points.
Jahmere Howze added 11 points and eight rebounds. Howze shot perfectly from the free throw line going six-for-six. Melvin ended the contest shooting two-of-eight from the floor.

- VSU shot 41.4 percent from the field; Livingstone College shot 41.2 percent
- Virginia hit 11 triples (44 percent); Livingstone knocked down four threes on 25 percent shooting
- The Trojans were 23-for-29 at the free throw line while the Blue Bears were 25-for-34
