Power Hitting Rolled Baseball Past William Peace University, 14-0, on Tuesday Evening

CARY, N.C. (April 3, 2018) – A game-high 14 runs and an impressive hitting performance helped Virginia State baseball record its first consecutive shutout with a 14-0 win over William Peace University on Tuesday evening at the USA baseball National training complex. The victory moves VSU to 15-7-1 on the season.

Eight of the nine starters for VSU tallied at least one hit with all 10 Trojan batters reaching base safely on one or more occasion. Virginia State's batters totaled 16 hits on the night.

Sophomore Aaron Harris finished 5-for-3 with a game-high three RBIs along with two runs scored. Also delivering two hits each for the Trojans were Justin Nase, Cecil Henderson and Jahleel Sewer.

Freshman Jarren Norman secured the win with 7.0 innings of scoreless baseball. The right-hander allowed three hits and struck out three Pacers hitters.

The Trojans struck first in Tuesday's contest, scoring 12 in the first inning to gain a 12-0 lead. VSU extended its lead in the second, putting up one runs on two hits. The Trojans added one more in the fourth on three hits, to put the game out of reach.

Nase wrapped up Tuesday's contest with a 4-for-3 performance that included one RBI and two runs scored.

The Virginia State University Trojans will travel to face the Builders of Newport News Apprentice School in double header action on Friday, April 6 with the first pitch slated for 1 p.m.
