Both teams went scoreless in the first three innings. Then in the top of the fourth inning Hector Rivera started with a single, which was followed by Ralph Rivera single and a Trey Mitchell bunt single to load the bases. Jaron Ward was then hit by a pitch to bring in the first run of the game. Johnathan Smith then hit a sac fly to bring home the second run of the game. In the fifth Antonio Boone hit a one out double, then two pitches later scored on a wild pitch.
Mount Olive would take control of the game, scoring five runs in the bottom of the fifth and then five runs in the bottom of the sixth to gain a 9-3 lead. The Trojans added one more run in the seventh to get to double digits. UMO would never relinquish the lead from that point on.
