Box Score 2 ETTRICK, Va. (April 22, 2018) - The Virginia State University baseball team secured the doubleheader victory over the Lions of Lincoln University this afternoon in its season finale.

Game 1: Virginia State 18, Lincoln 3
The opening game of the day saw host Virginia State jump out to a 1-0 lead with one run on one hit in the first inning of play. The Trojans then added six runs in the bottom of the third inning to take a 7-0 lead. Virginia State then grew its lead with adding two runs in the fourth inning. The Lions added its first run of the content in the top of the fifth inning. The Trojans added five runs to the board in the bottom of the fifth when
Jahleel Sewer doubled to center field to bring Harris and Taylor across home plate. VSU held strong to their lead, 14-1.
The Trojans then added its final four runs of the contest in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Lions added two run in the seventh inning, but could not get any closer as the Trojans secured the 18-3 win.
Virginia State was led by
Julian White who went 3-for-4 with one run and recorded five RBIs.
Jarren Norman earned the win.
Game 2: Virginia State 13, Lincoln 12
Lincoln got on the board early with six runs at the top of the first. The Lions then added one run in the top of the second inning to take a 7-0 lead. The Trojans then added seven runs in the bottom of the second to tie the game seven all. The Lions then collected three runs in the top of the fourth to give LU a 10-7 advantage. Virginia State's next time at bat added two runs in the bottom of fourth to cut the lead, 10-9. The Trojans answered with adding two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 11-10 lead. The Lion answered with adding two runs in the top of the seventh inning to take a 12-11 lead. The Trojans answered with adding two runs in the final inning to take a 13-12 victory. Virginia State finished the contest with 12 hits while the Lions collected 13.
VSU (25-14-1) will next begin preparation for the 2019 season.
