Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 ETTRICK, Va. (April, 21, 2018) - The Virginia State University baseball team secured the doubleheader victory over the Lions of Lincoln University this afternoon on day one of the weekend series. The Trojans celebrated senior day where six senior were honored.

Game 1: Virginia State 9, Lincoln 0
The opening game of the day saw host Virginia State jump out to a 3-0 lead with three runs on two hits in the first inning of play. The Trojans then added one run in the bottom of the second inning to take a 4-0 lead. Virginia State then grew its lead with adding four runs in the fourth inning. The Trojans added two runs to the board in the bottom of the fifth when Julian White homered to bring Sewer across home plate. VSU held strong to their lead, 8-0.

The Lions attempted to add in the remaining innings, but could not get any closer as the Trojans secured the 9-0 win.

Virginia State was led by Julian White who went 2-for-3 with one run and recorded six RBIs. Gerald Taylor (8-3) earned the win.
 
Game 2: Virginia State 21, Lincoln 4
Lincoln got on the board early with one run at the top of the first. The Trojans then added four runs in the bottom of the first to take a 4-1 lead. The Trojans then collected 10 runs at the bottom of the second to give VSU a 14-1 advantage. Virginia State's next time at bat added seven runs to edge the lead, 21-1. The Lions answered with adding a two runs in the final innings to cut VSU's lead, 21-4. The Trojans finished the contest with 15 hits while the Lions collected seven.

VSU will host the Lions of Lincoln University in the final doubleheader games of the season on April 22 with the first pitch slated for 1 pm. All home games are played to Whaley Colbert Field on the campus of Virginia State University.
