Box Score Shepherdstown, W.Va. (April 17, 2018)- The Virginia State University baseball team dropped a 13-3 decision to Shepherd University on the road this afternoon at Fairfax Field.

VSU moves to 21-14-1 overall and looks to regroup as they return home to close out the season on April 21-22 Â as they host the Lions of Lincoln University in doubleheader action.Â

The Rams of Shepherd University grasped the lead with adding two runs at the bottom of the first inning. SU then added four runs in the second and third inning to grow it lead, 6-0.  Shepherd then took control of the game, with a score of 10-0 at the end of fourth inning. VSU gained momentum in the final inning adding three runs. The home team added three additional runs in the seventh inning, securing a 13-3 victory.

Starting off on the mound for VSU was freshmanÂ
Jarren Norman who allowed 10 hits, 10 runs in the 3.1 innings pitched. Senior
Gerald Taylor contributed by pitching 3.2 innings for VSU allowing four hits, three runs, three walks and one strikeout. Closing things on the mound was senior
Jamar Hinton who pitched one inning, who recorded one walk, one hit and three strikeouts.Â

VSU will return home to close out the season as they host the Lions of Lincoln University in doubleheader action on April 21-22. First pitch is slated for 1:00 p.m. All home games are played at Whaley Colbert Field on the campus of Virginia State University.
