Box Score 2 ETTRICK, Va. (April 15, 2018) - The Virginia State University baseball team finished the weekend series with a victory over the Falcons of St. Augustine's University (SAU) this afternoon.

Game 1: Virginia State 13, St. Augustine's 3
The opening game of the day saw St. Augustine's jump out to a 1-0 lead with one run, one hit and two errors in the top of the first. The Trojans answered with
Jahleel Sewer collecting a home run and plating Harris and Henderson, giving VSU a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the first. VSU then added six runs in the bottom of the third with
Sisqo Scott hitting a homerun to bring the score 9-1.
VSU then grew its lead 11-1, as an error in the fourth inning plated the runs. SAU added its final two runs in the fifth and sixth inning. The Trojans answered with adding its final two runs in the sixth inning to secure the 13-3 victory.
Jason Martinez earned the win with pitching the entire contest allowing seven hits, three runs and two strikeouts. Virginia State finished the contest collecting eight hits.
Game 2: Virginia State 13, St. Augustine's 5
St. Augustine's and Virginia State got on the board early in the first inning with the Trojans taking a 2-1 lead. VSU then tacked on six runs in the bottom of the second to grow its lead 8-1. SAU answered with adding three runs in the top of the fourth inning to cut VSU's lead 8-4. Virginia State then added five runs in the fourth and fifth inning to secure the 13-5 victory. Virginia State University ended the contest with 11 hits.
VSU will travel to face Shepherd University in doubleheader action on April 17 with the first pitch slated for 1 pm. The contest will be played at Fairfax Field on the campus of Shepherd University.
