Box Score 2 ETTRICK, Va. (April, 13, 2018) - The Virginia State University baseball team secured the doubleheader victory over the Builders of Apprentice School this afternoon.

Game 1: Virginia State 6, Apprentice School 5
The opening game of the day saw host Virginia State jump out to a 2-0 lead with two runs on two hits in the first inning of play. The Builders then added two runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game two all. Apprentice then took the lead with adding one run in the top of the fifth inning, 3-2. The Trojans added runs to the board in the bottom of the fifth when
Julian White singled to right field to bring
Aaron Harris and
Justin Nase across home plate. VSU then took the lead, 6-3.
The Builders then added two runs in the top of the sixth inning, but could not get any closer as the Trojans held on for the win.
Virginia State was led by
Julian White who went 2-for-3 and recorded three RBIs.
Jarren Norman earned the win with pitching five innings.
Game 2: Virginia State 10, Apprentice School 9
Apprentice got on the board early with four runs at the top of the first. The Trojans then added four runs in the bottom of the second to tie the game four all. The Trojans soon collected four runs at the bottom of the third to give VSU a 8-4 advantage. Virginia State's next time at bat added two run to edge the lead, 10-4. The Builders answered with adding a single run in the top of the fifth to cut VSU's lead, 10-5. The Apprentice School added its final four runs of the contest in the remaining innings falling 10-9 to the Trojans. The Trojans finished the contest with 12 hits while the Builders collected five.
VSU will host the Falcons of St. Augustine's University in doubleheader action on April 14 with the first pitch slated for 1 pm. All home games are played to Whaley Colbert Field on the campus of Virginia State University.
