ETTRICK,VA (November 6, 2018)- The Virginia State University Trojans Volleyball team have secured a spot in the 2018 CIAA Volleyball Championship Semi-Finals after defeating the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University, 3-0.

SET 1
The Trojans entered the matchup with a championship mindset to dominate set 1. VSU pulling away early with an 8-3 lead at the first timeout. The Trojans continued to extend the scoring gap, barely giving the Golden Bulls a chance to gain a double digit score. After a quick set 1, VSU was victorious with a 25-10 set win.

SET 2 & 3
The Golden Bulls rallied back in set 2, looking to take the win. Both teams battled to maintain the lead after the tying the score 6 times. The determination to win and the cheering Trojan fans gave VSU the needed push to take the 25-23 set 2 win. The Trojans did not let set 3 get in their way as they took charge of the court. Several key plays and JCSU errors gave VSU an edge to take the set 25-18 and the overall match victory.

GAME LEADERS
Jailyn Ivey extended her top ranked offensive record with 12 kills over JCSU.
Kennedi Cannon was not too far behind with 10 kills. Evenly matched with a single ace each for VSU were Cannon,
Bria Anderson and
Tiara Ramey. Anderson stayed consistent on the court, tallying 32 assists.

UP NEXT
VSU will face the Broncos of Fayetteville State University for the CIAA semi-finals on November 9. The first serve is set for 5pm at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, VA. Both teams will be battling for a spot in the championship game on Saturday, November 10.
