SALEM, VA (October 25, 2018) - The Virginia State University men's cross country team accomplished their season goal by reclaiming the CIAA Championship Title. VSU had five Trojans to cross the finish line among the overall top 15 finishes.
Leading the charge for the Trojans was Tyreece Huff with an overall second place time of 26:36.5. Although this is Huff's second best time of the 2018 season, he crossed the championship finish line 1:23.4 faster than he did during the 2017 season. Â
Taking a consecutive 12th-15th place finish were Steven Murdock (29:01.1), Nickolas Stackfield (29:03.6), Tyron Evans (29:11.2) and Louis Andrews (29:19.1). Murdock, Stackfield, Evans, and Andrews each improved their times from their 2017 Cross Country Championship win as well! From as little as 20 secs to as much as 3:12.2, the Trojans fought hard to reclaim their title.
With an overall team score of 56, VSU surpassed the second place team by 30 points.
The Trojans look to maintain their winning streak for the upcoming indoor and outdoor seasons.
