ETTRICK, Va. (October 16, 2018) – The Virginia State University Football Team will welcome fans, family, friends, alumni, supporters and spectators back home as they celebrate Homecoming 2018. Kickoff for Saturday's contest is slated for 2 p.m. at Rogers Stadium.

Saturday will be the 15
th meeting between the Trojans and Lions but just the 8
th time the two programs have faced off in Rogers Stadium. The Trojans lead the all-time series with a 14-0 record, including a 7-0 mark at Rogers Stadium.
Saturday will mark Virginia State's third home game of the 2018 season. The Trojans will be looking to bounce back from a tough 20-15 loss to Bowie State University on Saturday, October 13. VSU's last win over Lincoln was on October 21, 2017 when the Trojans posted a 73-21 victory.

In front of a Bowie State University Homecoming crowd of 3,653, the Virginia State University Trojans suffered a tough 20-15 loss to the Bulldogs of Bowie State University on Saturday afternoon. With the win, Bowie State improves to the (5-2, 3-1 CIAA, 1-1 Northern Division), while the Trojans moves to (3-3, 3-1 CIAA, 1-1 Northern Division).
The Virginia State Trojans completed the competition with 399 total offense yards compared to 273 for Bowie State. The home team also recorded 171 passing yards, while the Trojans came away with 215. Offensively, the Trojans was led by
Cordelral Cook with 215 passing yards, completing 16-of-28 passes.
Joshua Harris (King William, Va.) led all receivers with 79 reception yards on six catches.
Cordelral Cook carried the ball 17 times for 83 yards and adding one touchdown.
Senior
Patrick Prosser (Newport Nes, Va.) led the Trojans defensively with nine tackles and one pass breakup, followed by senior
Kurtis Brooks (Las Vegas, Nev.) with eight tackles.
Lincoln University (1-6, 1-3) enters Saturday's contest coming off a 21-20 victory over Elizabeth City State University on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Lions Stadium.
Espinosa led the Lions offensive attack with both his arm and his legs, throwing for 122 yards and a pair of TDs on 6 of 11 passing, while also topping Lincoln's list of rushers with 59 yards
Lavelle Cloyd (Lexington, Ky./Bryan Station (Kentucky State)) chipped in with another 42 yards on 12 carries.
On the defensive end, Lincoln's defense was absolutely stellar in the second half, despite giving up 13 points on two big plays in the fourth quarter. The special teams came up big after the Vikings scored their third touchdown as they forced ECSU kicker Jason Monastra to ick wide on the extra point attempt that would have tied the game with 5:35 remaining.
Following Saturday's tilt, the Trojans will host its final home game of the 2018 season as they host the Hawks of Chowan University on Oct. 27. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m.
