Ettrick, Va. (September 27,2017) -The Virginia State University Trojan volleyball team will host the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round Up, on September 30- October 1. The schools participating in the CIAA Round Up includes Winston-Salem State, Shaw, Saint Augustine's, Elizabeth City State, Bowie State and Virginia State University.
The Trojans recently gave the Panthers of Virginia Union University a 3-0 (25-12, 25-20, 26-24) upset on Monday night. The victory moves VSU to a 3-10 overall record, 3-2 in the CIAA conference.
Currently leading the Trojans in attacks this season is rookie Jailyn Ivey with 102 total kills. Defensively, sophomore Jasmine Jones is working the court with 140 total digs while senior Miranda Bass has tallied 280 total assists. Guarding the net for the Trojans is junior Myia Jones with 44 total blocks this season.
VSU is set to take on Winston-Salem State (3:00 p.m.) and Shaw (6:00 pm) on Saturday, September 30. The Trojans will close out the CIAA Round Up on Sunday, October 1 with a matchup against the Falcons of Saint Augustine's University at 1 pm.
