ETTRICK, Va. – The Virginia State University women's basketball team
concluded the regular season with a three-way tie for the Division Title. Chowan University,
Virginia State University, and Virginia Union University all finished the season with a 7-3 division record. With all three teams being awarded Co-Northern Division Champions.
In the final game of the regular season VSU (19-7, 11-5 CIAA) secured a 69-50 victory over the Lady Lions of Lincoln University on the road. Offensively, for VSU there were four Trojans that scored in double digits respectively senior

Endia McKinney (11), senior
Dominque Hagins (10), and graduate student
Taylor Daniels (10).
Defensively, for VSU
Taylor Daniels led the Trojans with 11 rebounds. Three other Trojans contributed to VSU's defense with rebounds senior
Joy Hickman (7), senior Tierra Richberg (7), and junior
Endia McKinney (5).
VSU ended the competition shooting 36.6 percent (26-71) from the field, 34.8 percent (8-23) from behind the arc, and 64.3 percent (9-14) at the line, while LU shot 32 percent (16-50) from the field, 18.2 percent (2-11) behind the arc, and 66.7 percent (16-24) at the line. The VSU Trojans secured the largest lead of the competition in the fourth quarter at the 2:42 mark leading by 23 points which sealed the deal.
VSU completed the regular season with a (19-7, 11-5 CIAA) record to claim the CIAA Co-Northern Division Champions title and secured the No. 3 seed in the North heading into the 2017 CIAA Basketball Tournament.
