ETTRICK, Va. (October 4, 2017) – Virginia State University head women's basketball coach James Hill, Jr. announces the addition of 13 newcomers to the team for the 2017-18 season.
The newcomers include junior guard Aja Robertson (Bells, TN), senior guard Alexis Smith (Lusby, MD), freshman forward Breyona Whitehead (Miramar, FL), Chrisanna Green (Jamestown, NY), junior forward Taylor Hayes (Memphis, TN), senior guard/forward Keyana Brown (Williamsburg, VA), freshman guard Imani Broadnax (Norfolk, VA), senior guard/forward Shonnice Vaughn (Milwaukee, WI), freshman center Dajour Bown-Strother (Buckerville, VA), junior forward Ebony Reynolds (Fieldale, VA) freshman guard Alexandria Flemming anf freshman guard Cassidy Simmons have been added to the roster for the 2017-18.
"We are extremely happy to have these ladies join our program," said Hill. They fit the build that I take great pride in which is recruiting young ladies with high character, academic prowess and a particular basketball skill set. I look forward to seeing them thrive on and off the court".
The Trojans and the new recruiting class will look to continue the great momentum from the 2016-17 season after the team finished the 2016-17 campaign as with 22-8, 11-6 CIAA. The Trojans were also named Co-CIAA Northern Division Champions.
The Virginia State University Women's Basketball team will tip-off their 2017-2018 season on Thursday, November 7 against Mary Baldwin University. Tip-off is slated 5:30 at the VSU Multipurpose Center.
