Baseball Falls to Chowan on the Road

Box Score MURFREESBORO, NC- The Virginia State University baseball team fell to the Chowan University Hawks, 9-3, in a single 7 inning makeup game on April 13.

Sophomore Rodney Shell (Dinwiddie, VA) led the Trojans with 2 runs, while senior Corey Grant (Dinwiddie, VA) ran in for one.

Shell put the Trojans on the board at the top of the 1st inning, giving VSU 1-0 lead into the 3rd inning. The Hawks gained runs in the 3rd, 4th and 6th innings, taking the 9-1 lead. VSU worked to stay strong, but were only able to gain 2 runs at the top of the 7th inning, taking the 9-3 loss.

The Trojans will be back in action on the road on Friday, April 15 to take on the Builders of The Newport News Apprentice School. The first pitch of the doubleheader is set for 1pm.
