Box Score 2 RALIEGH, NC- The Virginia State University baseball team fell to the Falcons of St. Augustine's University in a day 2 doubleheader on April 10.
The Trojans took a 16-13 loss in game 1.
Rookie
Aaron Harris (Atlanta, GA) led VSU with 3 runs while sophomore
Rodney Shell (Dinwiddie, VA) secured 2 runs. Giving the Trojans a single run were seniors
Tashaun Taylor (Richmond, VA),
Johnny Rowe (Petersburg, VA) and
Jamison Griffin (Newport News, VA), juniors
David Markins (Colonial Heights, VA) and
Julian White (Yorktown, VA), and sophomores
Antonio Alaffita (Bunn, NC) and
Robert Elliott (Claremont, VA).
VSU worked to dominate the field, but SAU answered back with additional runs. Going into the 7
th and final inning of game 1, the Trojans trailed 16-8. VSU were only able to gain 5 runs, taking the 16-13 loss.
Despite securing a homerun, the Trojans suffered a 9-2 loss in game 2.
At the top of the 4
th inning, Markins collected the first run of the game for VSU with a homer to left field. Working to close the score gap, White hit a sacrifice fly out to center field, allowing sophomore
Devin Walker (Portsmouth, VA) a chance to advance home.
The Trojans will travel to Mount Olive, NC for a single 9 inning game on Tuesday, April 12 against the University of Mount Olive Trojans. Â The first pitch is set for 3pm.
