RALIEGH, NC- The Virginia State University baseball team fell to the William Peace University Pacers in a single 9 inning game on March 29 with a final score of 8-7.
The Trojans move to a 2-19 overall record.

David Markins (Colonial Heights, VA) led the team with 2 runs while senior
Tashaun Taylor (Richmond, VA), junior
Julian White (Yorktown, VA), senior
Jamison Griffin (Newport News, VA), sophomore
Robert Elliott (Claremont, VA) and sophomore
Rodney Shell (Dinwiddie, VA) each chipped in a single run.
Neither team advanced home in the opening 3 innings. At the bottom of the 4
th inning, William Peace put 4 runs on the board. After a scoreless 5
th inning, the Trojans kicked their game into high gear. Back-to-back homeruns by Markins and Griffin brought in 4 runners to start the inning. Two additional runs gave the Trojans a 6-4 lead. The Pacers closed the scoring gap with 2 runs, tying the game, 6-6.
VSU was able to gain an extra run at the tip of the 7
th inning, but William Peace answered back with 2 points. Neither team scored in the final 2 innings, giving VSU the 8-7 loss.
The Trojans will take on CIAA defending champions, Winston-Salem State on April 2-3 in a 2 day doubleheader matchup. The first pitch is set for 1pm on both days.
