Women’s Basketball Takes a Loss on the Road

Box Score RALEIGH, NC- The VSU Trojans women's basketball team took a 75-48 loss to the Lady Bears of Shaw University on February 3.

The loss moves VSU to a 9-11 overall record, 4-6 in the conference.

VSU rounded out the night shooting 31.3 percent (20-64) from the field, 11.1 percent (2-18) from behind the arc and 42.9 percent (6-14) from the free throw line.

Senior CIAA Preseason pick Wynterra Pittman (Graceville, FL) led the game for the Trojans with 14 points while junior Nandi Taylor (Flint, MI) rounded out the double-digit scoring with 10 points. Junior Donae' Moguel (Los Angeles, CA) led VSU in rebounds with 8 recoveries.

Nandi Taylor secured the first basket of the game with a shot from behind the arc. The Trojans would have a slow run for the remainder of the game, taking a 75-48 loss.  

Mark your calendars for the Trojans next home game on Saturday, February 6. VSU will be celebrating their Alumni Winter Festival at the Orange Out game. The women will tip-off at 2pm.

The Virginia State Department of Athletics annual 1,000 cans, 1 goal campaign initiative is underway. The canned food items collected will be donated to the local food banks. The Department encourages all fans, alumni, faculty and friends to bring a canned food item to all of the home basketball games this season.
