Box Score 3 ETTRICK, Va.- The VSU Trojan baseball team fell short in the 3 game weekend against Davis & Elkins College on February 27-28 at the Whaley Colbert Field.
In game 1, Davis & Elkins jumped ahead with 3 runs in the 1
st inning. Senior
Jamison Griffin (Newport News, VA) put the Trojans on the board securing a run at the bottom of the 2
nd inning giving the Trojans a boost. VSU held the Senators down at the top of the 3
rd inning, giving the team a chance to gain 3 runs by sophomore
Chris Carter (Ruther Glen, VA), junior
Tashaun Taylor (Richmond, VA) and junior
Julian White (Yorktown, VA) in the same inning. The Trojans were unable to gain additional runs or restraint the Senators, taking a 5-4 loss.
VSU had a better rhyme in game 2, only allowing Davis & Elkins 3 runs. White gave the Trojans their single run of the game, as they ended game 2 with a 1-3 loss.
The Trojans took the field on February 28 for the single game matchup against the Senators. White led the team securing 2 runs, while junior
David Markins (Colonial Heights, VA) ran in for a single run. Despite their hard work, Davis & Elkins prevailed with a 3-8 win.
The Trojans will gear up on March 5 to take on the Mavericks of Mercy College at the Whaley Colbert Field. The double header is set for 1pm.
