Volleyball Falls To Chowan on the Road

Box Score MURFRESSBORO, NC- The Virginia State University volleyball team fell to the Chowan University Hawks on November 7 in 3 (25-18, 27-25, 25-21) sets.

Sophomore Myia Jones led the Trojans with 6 kills followed by sophomore Hailey Heyward and rookie Kennedi Cannon with 5 kills. Stepping in with 12 assists was junior Miranda Bass while senior Adriana Hazou tallied 14 digs.

The first and third set mimicked each other as the Trojans were not able to dominate the court. In set 2, VSU attempt to rally back with the close scoring gap. The set had 9 ties as the Trojans worked to capitalize off of kills and errors. Cannon gave VSU the last kill of the set, tying the game 25-25. The Hawks used 2 kills to take the set 2 win.

VSU will travel to Elizabeth City, NC on November 11 to take on the Elizabeth City State University Vikings. The first serve is set for 6pm.

The 2016 CIAA Volleyball Championship is quickly approaching! On November 18-20, the top 8 teams in the conference will face off at the VSU Multipurpose Center for the 2016 CIAA Title.
