Box Score RICHMOND, Va.- The Trojans wrap up the season on the road dominating I-95 rival Virginia Union University, 48-21. VSU ends the 2016 regular season 8-2 overall (5-2 CIAA), second best record in the competitive CIAA Northern Division and third overall in the conference.
Senior quarterback
Tarian Ayres (Buckingham, VA) completed 13-of-28 pass attempts for 168 yards, a single interception, and two touchdowns.
Virginia Union's Shawheem Dowdy completed 14-of-23 pass attempts for 250 yards, threw three interception, and three touchdowns.
The Trojans lead the conference in yards on the ground recording 2,814 yards on 488 attempts this season. The infamous running back duo of Hampton, VA natives junior
Trenton Cannon and senior
Kavon Bellamy stuck to the game plan and left their mark at VUU's Hovey Field. Cannon led the way for VSU recording 187 yards on 21 attempts and 3 touchdowns. Cannon has been very impressive and ended the season recording 100+ yards per game for the last 4 consecutive weeks and leads the conference in rushing touchdowns. In his final appearance as a Trojan, Bellamy recorded 128 yards on 20 attempts and a touchdown.
Sophomore
Trey Reed (Newport News, VA) contributed 65 yards in the air on 4 receptions and his first career touchdown.
William Stanback led the Panthers recording 132 yards on 25 attempts.'
Senior linebacker
Geo Feggins (South Hill, VA) pioneered the Trojan defense recording 10 tackles (3 solo). Senior defensive back
Bryce Bradley (Richmond, VA) contributed 7 tackles (6 solo) and an interception.
Virginia State's defense held the Panthers to 368 yards of total offense against their 560. Junior defensive back Tyquate Simms (Lynchburg, VA), sophomore defensive back
Tarell Cisneros-Harrison (Bronx, NY), and Bradley each secured interceptions. Senior
Bryant Frazier (Glen Allen, VA) recorded 2 .5 sacks and leads the conference in that category.
The Panthers defensive effort was charged by Sterling Hammond who recorded 10 tackles (4 solo).
Both teams failed to get into the end zone on their opening drives, but on the Panthers second drive Dowdy's pass is picked off by Bradley to give the Trojans some momentum that later results in a 9 play drive for 50 yards and a 1 yard touchdown by Ayres.
The very next Panther drive seems promising and VUU gets a shot at the end zone, but a fumble by Stanback on 3
rd and goal is recovered by the Trojans sophomore
Malik Sexton (Portsmouth, VA).
On their first drive of the second quarter, Cannon wowed the crowd with an impressive 49 yard touchdown to extend the VSU lead to 13-0.
The Panthers fight back and before the end of the half Dowdy manages to link up with Yorke for two touchdowns, but the Trojans would take a 35-14 lead into halftime.
Both teams exchange a touchdown in the third quarter, with the Trojan defense keeping them out front.
With 5:15 remaining on the game clock Cannon rushed 4 yards to score the last touchdown of the contest for both teams sealing the deal on the Trojans 48-21 victory.

Reggie Barlow, the Trojans rounded out the year with a great 8-2 overall record with an undefeated home record.
