ETTRICK, Va.- The Virginia State Trojans will take on their cross-town rivals Virginia Union Panthers on Saturday, November 5 at 1pm. Not only is this the last game of the regular season, but it is also an important game for the Trojans as it could put them in the direction of going to the CIAA Championship.

 VSU just came off a stunning 49-28 game against the Chowan Hawks, making the Trojans undefeated at home this season. Securing that win helped the Trojans get even closer to claiming the CIAA Northern Division Title.

If the Elizabeth City State Vikings knock off the Bowie State Bulldogs, the Trojans will have the spot in the CIAA Championship if they defeat Virginia Union.

On the offense, the Trojans will go into the game having the best rushing offense in the CIAA. The Trojans average over 270 yards a game on the ground this season led by the dynamic duo junior Trent Cannon and senior Kavon Bellamy. Cannon is third in the CIAA with 946 rushing yards while Bellamy is third in the CIAA in rushing touchdowns with 12.

The Trojan defense has made their presence known, with leadership by senior middle linebacker Geo Feggins and senior defensive end Bryant Frazier. Feggins has been a tackling machine this season with 72 tackles on the year which is 4^th in the CIAA. He has also added 4.5 sacks onto his stat sheet as well. Bryant Frazier has been all over the opponent's quarterback this year with a CIAA leading 11.5 sacks.

The Virginia Union Panthers are led by quarterback Shawheem Dowdy with 1,810 passing yards and 19 passing touchdowns on the year and running back Williams Stanback who leads the CIAA in rushing yards with 1,167 and rushing touchdowns with 15. For the Panther defense, linebacker Eddie Johnson leads the team in total tackles with 72 while defensive back Rodeshawn Joseph also has a big part of the team by having 42 tackles and 3 interceptions on the year.
