Box Score WINSTON-SALEM, NC- The Virginia State University volleyball rounded out the 2 day CIAA Round-up on October 2 with 3-0 take down over the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University.

Sophomore Sidney Uko dominated the court with 11 kills, while teammate senior Alexsys Pullen was not too far behind with 10 kills.

The Trojans kept the Golden Bulls under the 20 point scoring margin for each set.

The first few point at the beginning of set 1 were in favor of both team. VSU kicked the game into high gear with 4 consecutive kills to give the Trojans a 10-4 lead. JCSU attempted to gain control, but were only able to get within 4 point of a tie due to 3 back to back Trojan errors. VSU quickly pulled away capitalizing on big plays and Golden Bull errors for the 25-16 set 1 win.

VSU kept their momentum in set 2, snatching the 25-12 victory. The Trojans secured as much as 7 consecutive points at a time during the set to hold strong to their large lead. Opening set 3 with power, the Trojans quickly took a 5-0 lead. There was no looking back as the scoring gap increased giving VSU the 25-18 set and the overall win.

At the end of the matchup, junior Miranda Bass tallied 12 assists while senior Adriana Hazou led the game with 13 digs.

The Trojans will return to the court on October 6 for their first home game of the month. VSU's matchup against the Hawks of Chowan University will be recognized the Trojans Think Pink Game, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The first serve is set for 6pm.
