Box Score ETTRICK, Va.- The Virginia State University women's basketball team secured a 57-49 win over the Livingstone College Lady Blue Bears for VSU's Take A Kid to the Game Day on January 9.
The win improves the Trojans to a 7-6 overall record, 3-1 in conference play.

Wynterra Pittman (Graceville, FL) offensively and defensively recorded a double-double with 15 points and securing 15 boards. Pittman also contributed 5 assist, 4 steals, and 2 blocks providing the Trojans with a burst of energy on both ends. Senior forward
Miesha Adams (Indian Head, MD) rounded out the double-digit scoring for the Trojans contributing 10 points.
VSU shot 31.3 percent (10-32) from the field, 14.3 percent (1-7) behind the arc, and 91.7 percent (11-12) from the line in the first half.
The Blue Bears established what would be their largest and last lead of the game in the opening minutes, as the Trojans trailed by 2. A pair of free throws by VSU's junior guard
Joy Hickman (Newark, DE) and a quick basket inside the paint by Adams extended the Trojans lead moments before the closing of the second quarter. VSU went into halftime leading, 32-17.
VSU maintained their momentum in the second half of the game as they took a 17 point lead at the end of third quarter. Livingstone attempted to move in and close the scoring gap in the final minutes of the game, but was unsuccessful in taking the lead. VSU took the 57-49 win.
The Trojans ended the night shooting 30.0 percent (18-60) in the paint, 27.8 percent (5-18) from 3 point land, and 80.0 percent from the line (16-20).
VSU will be back in action on Tuesday, January 12 in Daniel Gymnasium as they take on Johnson C. Smith University at 5:30 PM.
The Virginia State Department of Athletics annual 1,000 cans, 1 goal campaign initiative is underway. The canned food items collected will be donated to the local food banks. The Department encourages all fans, alumni, faculty and friends to bring a canned food item to all of the home basketball games this season.
