Box Score BLUEFIELD, WV- The VSU Trojans women's basketball team took down the Lady Blues of Bluefield State College in a non-conference contest on January 14 with a final score of 53-36.
The victory moves the Trojans to an 8-7 overall record, while the Lady Blues fall to a 1-15 overall record.
VSU rounded out the night shooting 30.6 percent (22-72) from the field, 19.4 percent (6-31) from behind the arc and 30.0 percent (3-10) from the free throw line.

Miesha Adams (Indian Head, MD) led the Trojans in double digit scoring with 10 points while senior and CIAA Preseason pick
Wynterra Pittman (Graceville, FL) took the helm of the rebounds with 13 recoveries.
It was a team effort as the VSU worked to maintain the lead. Junior
Philandra Jordan (Woodbridge, VA) secured the first basket of the night with a shot from behind the arc. The Trojans held the lead for majority of the first quarter until the BSC made a last second layup to bring the score to 9-8. The Trojans pulled away in the second quarter after tallying three 3-pointers and several layups to go into halftime with a score of 28-19.
The Trojans continued to expand the scoring gap in the third and fourth quarter, leading BSC by as much as 18 points. Junior
Donae' Moguel (Los Angeles, CA) secured the last basket of the game to give the Trojans a 53-36 win.
VSU secured their win by outscoring BSC in 2nd chance points (10-6), bench points (31-0), and baskets in the paint (28-18).
The Trojans will be taking the court on Saturday, January 16 in Richmond, VA to face the Lady Panthers of Virginia Union University. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
The Virginia State Department of Athletics annual 1,000 cans, 1 goal campaign initiative is underway. The canned food items collected will be donated to the local food banks. The Department encourages all fans, alumni, faculty and friends to bring a canned food item to all of the home basketball games this season.
