Volleyball Falls Short On Day 1 of Sharks Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 FT. LAUDERDALE, Fl.- The VSU Trojan Volleyball Team suffered a double 0-3 loss for their season opener against Oklahoma Baptist and Eckerd on Sept. 4 at the NOVA Southeastern Sharks Tournament.

In game one against Oklahoma Baptist, rookie Sydney Uko led the team with 6 kills in her collegiate debut. VSU's junior Adriana Hazou and Oklahoma Baptist player Kaitlyn Lucy led the game with 12 digs. After three straight sets, the Trojans fell 0-3 (17-25, 13-25, 10-25)

Hazou stayed consistent in game two against Eckerd by leading the game with 17 digs. Junior Dierdre Carter led the Trojans with 5 kills followed by senior Brookie Dargan with 4 kills. The final score was 0-3 (15-25, 17-25, 13-25).

The Trojans will face NOVA Southeastern and Embry Riddle for day 2 of the Sharks Tournament on Sept. 5 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.
