Box Score ETTRICK, Va.- The VSU Trojans Volleyball team advanced to a 8-6 overall record after a swift 3 set victory over the UVA- Wise Cavialiers on Sept. 29.
Rookie Syndey Uko
(Hacienda Heights, CA) adn junior Dierdre Carter (Winchester, VA) led the Trojans with 11 kills each.
Karley Allen of the Cavilers also secured 11 kills during the match up.
VSU had a close call in set 1, barely taking the 27-25 victory, but a kill by rookie Hailey Heywood (Johns Island, SC) and an error on Wise sealed teh deal. Set 2 was a breeze as the Trojans dominated with a 25-15 win. Finishing out the game, VSU was up against another close call, but the Trojans stood thier ground for a 25-21 victory.
The Trojans will take the court in Murfreesboro, NC on Saturday Oct. 3 to take on Winston-Salem State at 12pm adn Livingstone at 3pm for a CIAA Roundup hosted by Chowan University.
The Virginia State Department of Athletics annual 1,000 cans, 1 goal campaign initiative is underway. Canned food items collected will be donated to the local food banks. The Department encourages all fans, alumni, faculty and friends to bring a canned food item to all of the home volleyball and football games this season.
