Box Score ETTRICK,Va.- The Virginia State University Trojan Volleyball team outlasted the Virginia Union University Panthers in a 5 set run on Sept.28. The Trojans advance to a 7-6 overall record, 4-1 in the conference after the 3-2 (22-25, 25-18, 26-24, 22-25,15-7) win.

Brookie Dargan (Newport News, VA) led the Trojans with 17 kills while rookie
Sydney Uko (Hacienda Heights, CA) followed close with 15 kills. Ambryanna Moore of the Panther collected 12 kills during the match up.
The Panthers came in and took set 1 of the highly anticipated I-95 rival match up. VSU rallied back in set 2 with a 6 point led for the victory. The Trojans were able to capitalized off of a Panthers error and a VSU kill to take the win for set 3. Set 4 mimicked set 1 as the Trojans took another 22-25 set defeat. Both teams were on a even playing field in set 5. The Trojans attacked with several aggressive plays to take set 5 and the game.
The Trojans will be back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 29 to take on UVA- Wise at 6pm in Daniel Gymnasium.
The Virginia State Department of Athletics annual 1,000 cans, 1 goal campaign initiative is underway. Canned food items collected will be donated to the local food banks. The Department encourages all fans, alumni, faculty and friends to bring a canned food item to all of the home volleyball and football games this season.
