Box Score RALEIGH, NC- The Virginia State University Trojan volleyball team took down the Fayetteville State University Broncos on day 2 of the CIAA Roundup with a final score of 3-1 (25-15, 25-18, 17-25, 25-14). Under the leadership of second year head coach
Rose White, the Trojans are 4-6 on the season, 2-1 in the CIAA conference.
Rookie
Sydney Uko continues to lead the Trojans securing 16 kills over the Broncos. Junior
Adriana Hazou took charge with 23 digs while junior
Diamond Simpson tallied 37 assists.
In set 1, the Trojans and Broncos battled for the lead. VSU took control of the set with the score tied 15-15. Attack errors by the FSU kept the ball in VSU's court to secure set one and eventually take set 2.
The Broncos rallied back taking set 3, but the Trojans redeemed themselves keeping the lead in set 4 to take the set and win the match.
VSU will be back in action on Thursday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. in Daniel Gymnasium to take on the Bowie State University Bulldogs for a conference matchup.
