CARY, NC- The Virginia State University baseball team suffered an 8-3 loss to the Winston-Salem State University Rams for the CIAA Championship Title on May 2 at the USA Baseball National Training Complex.
With the loss, the Trojan baseball team, finished the year with a 25-18 overall record and 9-9 in the conference. This is the second consecutive year the Trojans have registered at least 25 wins for the season.

Colton Gunn took the loss for the Trojans after pitching the first 5 innings allowing 3 runs on 3 hits and giving 5 strikeouts. Senior
Nathan Anger took over the mound in the final 3 innings allowing 5 runs on 5 hits and giving 3 strikeouts.

Tashaun Taylor each tallied a single run for VSU.
At the conclusion of the 3
rd inning, the Trojans trailed 3-1. VSU held WSSU down from scoring the 4
th and 5
th inning. Â
The Trojans added a run at the top of the 6
th, but allowed the Rams 2 additional runs in the same inning.
Taylor would be the last to score for VSU during the matchup, while WSSU score 3 extra runs in the 8
th inning.
With a final score of 8-3, the Trojans take the Runner-Up title for the 2015 CIAA Baseball Championship
