Box Score 3 WINSTON-SALEM, NC- The Virginia State University Trojan baseball team suffered a 3 game loss to the Winston-Salem State University Rams in final conference match of the regular season.
Senior
Nicholas Christopher put the Trojans on the board with a run in the first game of the day. VSU trailed with a final score of 6-1.
The Trojans had a 7
th inning rally in game 2. At the end of the 6
th inning the score was 3-0, Trojans trailing. After a few plays, junior
Tashaun Taylor was next to bat with the bases loaded. Taylor hit a single earning him 2 RBIs with a run in by juniors
Jamison Griffin and
Stephen Brown. Senior Zachary Jordan hit a single to right field, advancing Taylor and Christopher home. The Trojans took the lead with a score of 4-3. The Rams would come back with 2 runs at the bottom of the 7
th inning bring the final score to 5-4.
Christopher and sophomore
Bradley Taylor, II secured the 2 runs for VSU in game 3. The final score was 11-2.
VSU currently has a 23-16 overall record and will be preparing for the CIAA Championships in Cary, NC on April 30-May 2.
