Box Score 2 ETTRICK, Va.- The VSU baseball team redeemed themselves in game 2 of their CIAA Conference doubleheader on April 12.
The Trojans fell short in game 1 with a 5-2 loss. Junior
Tashaun Taylor received 2 RBI's, putting the Trojans on the board in the fifth inning. Junior
Corey Grant and junior
Jay Dee Johnson, III ran in for the points.
VSU took charge in game 2 with a 5-1 win. Senior
Nicholas Christopher was credited for the win after giving 4 strikeouts and only allowing 4 hits and 1 run. Â Christopher secured the first run of the game after advancing off of a wild pitch in the third inning. Senior
Zachery Jordan and senior
Joshua Markins followed suit, giving the Trojans two additional runs.
The score was 3-0 at the end of the third inning.
Christopher showed up and showed out in the fourth inning with a homerun to center field. The play also advanced Taylor to home plate. VSU remained in the lead with a score of 5-0.
SAU attempted to rally back with the final run of the game in the sixth inning.
The Trojans have an 18-10 overall record after their split CIAA conference doubleheader.
VSU will take the field in Lincoln, Pa. to face The Lincoln University Lions on April 18 & 19.
