Box Score ETTRICK, Va. – The Virginia State University Trojans baseball team took a 14-10 loss to the Francis Marion University Patriots for their day 2 matchup on March 18.
Senior
Tyler Coleman led the Trojans with 2 RBI's while senior
Joshua Markins tallied a game high of 3 runs.
The Trojans had a slow start in the first few innings of the game. Markins secured a run at the bottom of the 3rd to put the Trojans on the board. The score going into the bottom of the 5th was 6-1, with VSU trailing. A boost of energy gave the Trojans the drive to rally back. At the end of the 5
th inning, VSU collected 9 runs bring the score to 10-6 with the
Trojans leading. The game stretched to 9 innings as the Trojans allowed the Patriot 8 additional runs.
Junior
Johnny Rowe is marked for the loss after pitching the first 5.1 innings.
VSU will return to Whaley Colbert Field on Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22 for a 2 day doubleheader conference game against Chowan University. The first pitch on both days is slated for 1 p.m.
