ETTRICK, Va.- The VSU Trojans football team will take on the Virginia Union University Panthers on Saturday, November 7 at Roger Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. The matchup will also serve as Senior Day in recognition of VSU's senior football student-athletes.

The Trojans are currently 6-3 overall, 4-2 in conference play. The Trojans were predicted to finish second overall in the CIAA and first in the Northern Division. The Panthers are 7-2 overall, 5-1 in conference play. The Panthers were predicted to finish third in the CIAA.
The popular matchup between the two teams has taken place since 1902. The Trojans last meeting with the Panthers resulted in a 33-12 VSU victory and CIAA Northern Division Champion bragging rights.

Trenton Cannon (Hampton, VA) leads the Trojans offense recording 1,025 yards on 160 carries and nine touchdowns. Senior wide receiver
Jaivon Smallwood (Virginia Beach, VA) has recorded 502 yards on 35 receptions for three touchdowns.
Defensively the Trojans are led by junior linebacker
Geo Feggins (South Hill, VA) who has recorded 73 total tackles (51 solo) and six sacks.
The Panthers offense is led by freshman running back Hakeem Holland who has recorded 947 yards on 150 carries and nine touchdowns. Defensively, the Panthers are led by senior linebacker Joseph Blanks who has recorded 69 total tackles (49 solo) and two sacks.

The Virginia State Department of Athletics annual 1,000 cans, 1 goal campaign initiative is underway. The canned food items collected will be donated to the local food banks. The Department encourages all fans, alumni, faculty and friends to bring a canned food item to all of the home volleyball and football games this season.
