Box Score ETTRICK, Va.- The Virginia State University Volleyball team rounds out their regular season play with a 3-0 (25-9, 25-4, 25-15) victory over the Lady Vikings of Elizabeth City State University on November 14.
The Trojans will go into the CIAA Volleyball Championship on November 18-21 with an 18-6 overall record, 13-3 in the conference and 9-1 in the division.
Before the start of the matchup, VSU recognized their 3 senior volleyball players;
Brookie Dargan (Newport News, VA),
Grand Roberson (Alexandria, VA) and
Brianna Williams (Newport News, VA).
Dargan dominate the court in her last home game matchup with 12 kills, followed by fellow senior teammate, Roberson, with 11 kills.
The first two sets ran smooth as the Trojans held the Lady Vikings to single digit scoring. In the final set, VSU trailed until the score was tied 6-6. There was no turning back for the Trojans as they went on to secure the set and the match.
The Trojans will travel to Fayetteville, NC to fight for the CIAA Championship title on November 18-21 on the campus of Fayetteville State University.
The Virginia State Department of Athletics annual 1,000 cans, 1 goal campaign initiative is underway. Canned food items collected will be donated to the local food banks. The Department encourages all fans, alumni, faculty and friends to bring a canned food item to all of the home basketball games this season.
